Good job getting in front of the camera - you're a braver soul than I :)
Something that I find hard to connect with here is the need for a conclusion - a blanket lesson to be learned and enforced by outside government (because who else might step in and proclaim their right to make social decisions for us?). Everyone's experience in the same situation as yours might not be the same, what if it were the ideal childhood/ educational experience for someone else? Who's to say?
And yet I'm sure it's important that your story be told - and just as many 'looks into the world of others' have been successful at getting the message out through commercial production (in particular) - I have to wonder if your story wouldn't be more readily embraced if it were left with a big question mark at the end - as a way of leaving it to the viewers to chew on and debate among themselves.
Tell the story and let those whom it speaks to in which ever direction take what you experienced and apply it to their own lives - taking a political stand overshadows (and discounts) the story for me. I guess that's what I'm trying to say.
I would be fascinated and perhaps learn something from the story, but I wouldn't appreciate a "lesson" shoved down my throat - see what I mean? You want to present it in a way that people will HEAR the story.
